Property group adds historic arcade to its management roster

Barton Arcade

Knight Frank has been appointed to manage the Barton Arcade in Manchester, one of the region’s most elaborate and well-preserved Victorian arcades.

The firm was appointed after a three-way pitch and will also manage Eagle Buildings and the asset of the estate which was bought by a Singapore Investment company last Summer.

The Grade II-listed arcade runs from a frontage on Deansgate through to St Ann’s Square.

It was restored in the 1980s and had further investment in 2010 with improvements to the shop frontages.

It now has 12 retail and food and beverage outlets on the ground floor and 19,000 sq ft of offices on the upper floors under an ornate glazed domed roof.

Tenants include Pot Kettle Black, Lunya, Barber Barber, and Jeffery West.

The Grade II-listed Eagle Buildings sits at the corner of Cross Street and King Street offering refurbished character office space.

Elaine McClean, who heads the expanded property asset management team at Knight Frank, said: “The arcade is one of Manchester’s great treasures and the perfect location for stylish independent businesses – whether retail or commercial.

“We relish the opportunity to manage the estate and ensure these two asset buildings can thrive.”
