Fast growing holiday firm expands Cheshire head office

Independent holiday firm Sykes Holiday Cottages has expanded its head office.

Sykes Holiday Cottages has expanded its headquarters at One City Place in Chester.

Sykes’ team of almost 500 employees now occupies four floors of the six-storey building, having doubled its space to 35,800 sq ft.

As well as creating more working space for the company’s growing team, one of the floors is a dedicated wellbeing and leisure zone.

The firm recently expanded with the acquisition of holiday company Pure Cottages Group.

It features a gym, wellbeing rooms for coaching sessions and reflexology, and a games area which includes table football, darts and a pool table – all completely free to use.

The investment follows a series of new employee wellbeing initiatives introduced last year, including launching a cycle-to-work scheme and an extra day’s holiday on birthdays.

Sykes’ chief Graham Donoghue, said:“We’ve seen fast growth in our business, however the wellbeing of our staff has always been front and centre for us.

“These new spaces give our team the chance to work in more creative and efficient ways – while also giving them much needed time away from their desk.

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with hundreds of gym inductions and generally encouraging more of a community atmosphere.”

As part of the expansion, Sykes has also installed an additional training room, as well as multiple collaboration spaces both for group work and individuals.

Sykes, which served more than 1.5 million holidaymakers last year, was named in the Sunday Times’ Top 100 Best Companies list in 2019 based on positive feedback from employees.
