Sales specialist completes disposal of established kindergarten

A Preston-based sales specialist has completed a deal for a successful kindergarten business, enabling the couple who established the venture to retire.

Redwoods Dowling Kerr specialises in healthcare, childcare and education business sales and aquisitions.

One of its most recent disposals was Pebbles Kindergarten in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Pebbles was founded by Carol and Tim Thornton-Jones who had a dream to acquire a childcare setting in the local area.

Being experienced in the sector, they saw the need for a high quality of childcare, and knew how to facilitate this.

They purchased a detached three-storey residential property of a charming and antiquated design and gradually, and considerately, modernised the building which was converted into a nursery.

Just a short walk from the promenade, the unique location of this business greatly adds to its strong appeal to its clients.

Having always been operated by experienced management, and a dedicated team of staff, the high quality of childcare provided by the nursery is evident in its ‘Good’ report from Ofsted upon its most recent inspection.

The nursery provides care for more than 50 children from three months to 11 years of age.

However, after long and illustrious careers at the top of the sector, Carol and Tim Thornton-Jones had decided it was time to retire, and to enjoy their hard-earned retirement.

They wished to find a purchaser who could continue to operate the nursery to a high standard, and someone who shared a similar approach and expertise.

Once placed onto the market by Redwoods Dowling Kerr the business was subsequently acquired by an eager first-time buyer who was searching for an ideal first business to acquire.

Redwoods Dowling Kerr lead Negotiator Natasha Satterthwaite said: “Pebbles is a highly successful business which is demonstrated from receiving an offer after the first viewing.

“I’m sure Mrs Sangha and her family will do a fantastic job building on Carol’s success.”
