Plans have been submitted to Knowsley Borough Council by Your Housing Group, in partnership with ENGIE, to deliver a new housing development that will transform a derelict site in Kirby.

The proposals for Whitefield Drive, in Kirkby, North Merseyside, by the Warrington-based housing provider include 266 houses, 106 for shared ownership, 106 affordable rent and 54 for private rent.

The development comprises two-, three- and four-bedroom units in a landscaped community setting.

ENGIE has been appointed to deliver the design and construction of the new homes in accordance with Your Housing Group and Knowsley Council’s specifications.

A planning application has now been validated by Knowsley Council with a decision expected in July 2020.

Richard Jones, director of growth for Your Housing Group, said: “We are really pleased to be able to invest in this part of Kirkby, adding to the wider regeneration of the area.

“This development will provide much-needed affordable homes and enable many local people to take their first step on the property ladder through shared ownership.”

Pete Hayes, head of land and partnerships at ENGIE, said: “We’re delighted to be working with one of our key partners and a forward-thinking local authority to put forward this modern development for Whitefield Drive.

“The proposed plans focus on creating a new family orientated community with a range of homes for all ages, helping with the continued rejuvenation of the wider area of Kirkby and Knowsley, whilst also complementing the regeneration of Kirkby town centre.”
