Trumeter completes US acquisition

BURY-based manufacturing firm Trumeter has bought US competitor Reddington Counters for an undisclosed sum.

Trumeter, which makes a range of ultra-low voltage applications such as LED strip lights for cars and electrical devices used in measuring and water filtering equipment, was bought by North West venture capital firm Energize Capital last year.

It has funded the purchase of Reddington, which is a family-owned business in Florida that employs 25 people and has a turnover of $4m.

Trumeter said the deal would double the size of its Florida-based US operations.

John Smith, who became CEO of Trumeter Technologies following Energize’s investment last year, said: “Trumeter and Reddington have great synergies in their product portfolios, manufacturing capabilities and sales channels.

“The joining of two businesses with strong brand recognition will help strengthen both brands.

“Customers will benefit from a broader product offering from one supplier, an increased global presence and deeper resources for engineering and product development.”

Jeremy Carr, managing director of Energize Capital, said: “We are delighted to have assisted Trumeter with this American acquisition, further strengthening and diversifying Trumeter’s global presence across Europe, Asia and the Americas. This will add to some very exciting new initiatives that will be seen in 2012.”

Andrew Page of Page and Co Solicitors advised Energize.
