Recommerce business gives back to NHS

Walter Gleeson and Steve Oliver co-founders of musicMagpie

Leading UK recommerce business, musicMagpie has been running a fundraising initiative over the past three months in support of NHS Charities Together.

The Stockport-based firm raised £181,000 for the charity by donating £1 for every item of consumer tech it purchased from customers and a further £1 for each piece of refurbished tech sold via its online store.

However the business has also decided to top up the figure to £200,000 for the charity. In addition it has donated more than 200 tables to health authorities across the UK to help keep patients connected with loved ones.

Steve Oliver, CEO of musicMagpie, said: “We’re thrilled to have raised such a significant amount for NHS Charities Together and are proud as a business to have been able to support our brilliant health service over the last few months.

Ellie Orton, chief executive of NHS Charities Together, said: “Thank you to musicMagpie for supporting NHS Charities Together.

“We have been overwhelmed by the fundraising efforts organisations are putting into our appeal.

“This donation will help us to support NHS staff, volunteers and patients impacted by the virus.”

Following the success of the campaign the recommence firm has pledged to keep the scheme going to a similar extent with a new charity partner.

Oliver added: “Sustainability is a key focus for us as a business and are particularly focused on the issue of reducing e-waste, so we’d like to support an organisation dedicated to help saving our planet, as our next endeavour.”
