Phone giant’s £10m UK investment will create more than 100 jobs

Huawei, the controversial Chinese global technology company, is to open three new state-of-the-art Huawei Experience Stores and Service Centres in the UK, including a Manchester site.

This will include its first ever own-brand store, which will open in London’s Olympic Park, Stratford, in October 2020, and will be followed by a dedicated retail space and service centre in Manchester, scheduled to open in February 2021.

An additional London Huawei Experience Store will be opened in early 2021, in addition to the Huawei Service Centre in Wembley, London, which opened in June this year.

Together, these stores will also boost employment through the creation of more than 100 jobs.

Anson Zhang, managing director of Huawei’s UK consumer business group, said: “We are excited to be making this strong commitment to the UK, and to be coming to the High Street to deliver our innovative new devices and experiences direct to the millions of people who own and love our products.

“The opening of our new Huawei Experience Stores and Service Centres follows the strong growth of our UK consumer business in recent years, and shows the confidence we have in our future here.

“We know that millions of people here in the UK love our products and we’re delighted we will now have these new high street spaces where we can interact with our owners in a more personal way.”

The company said its announcement demonstrates Huawei’s ongoing commitment to its customers and the UK.

Last week the Government announced the removal of Huawei from UK 5G networks by 2027, believed to be linked to retaliatory measures by US president Donald Trump in his growing trade war with China.

The new Huawei Experience Stores will feature Huawei’s ecosystem of products including smartphones, laptops, tablets, headphones, earbuds, smartwatches, fitness bands, speakers, home innovations and more.

These new products are part of Huawei’s new ecosystem strategy, Seamless AI Life, which promises to deliver a fully integrated digital experience for millions of consumers around the world.

The strategy is built around five user scenarios, with a tailored offering of products and connected services for each: Smart Home, Smart Office, Easy Travel, Fitness & Health and Entertainment.

The UK store openings follow the recent flagship store openings in Madrid in July 2019, Barcelona in February 2020, Paris in March 2020 and the second global flagship store which opened in Shanghai in June 2020.

In addition to providing an opportunity to explore the Huawei product range, the stores will provide Huawei users with product training and technical support as well as a personalised consultation service, to troubleshoot any product queries and help customers better their understanding of the latest technologies in Huawei’s ecosystem.
