Stockport hotel sold despite ‘uncertain time’

Alma Lodge Hotel in Stockport

Stockport hotel Alma Lodge has been bought by two private investors from the Tavini family, which has owned the venue for 20 years.

The three-star hotel is centred around a main building with 52 bedrooms that dates back to the 1860s. It also has five conference and events rooms in an extension, with capacity for up to 250 guests.

The sale, off an asking price of £2.75m, allows the current owners to retire.

Ryan Lynn, director in Christie & Co’s corporate hotels team, which handled the sale, said: “We have been working on the deal for a while now and despite such an uncertain time, the sale has gone through after a lot of hard work from all involved, suggesting the resilience of the sector.

“We wish the previous owner, Karl and his family all the best for a well-earned break and the best of luck to the new owners moving forward with the business.”
