Housebuilder in deal for 26 acres of Congleton land to create 200 homes

Housebuilder Bellway has acquired 26 acres of land in Congleton for a new residential development.

The site is located on Black Firs Lane, and due to its semi-rural location in sought-after Somerford, will be known as Somerford Gate.

Planning consent has been granted for Somerford Gate, with the new development providing 200 plots, of which 165 will be for private sale.

A first for the housebuilder in Congleton, Bellway will introduce its brand new ‘Artisan Collection’ at the scheme.

This innovative collection of house types will feature village cottage styling, such as ‘nested’ porches and front gables with diamond club-tiling, with each property providing a recognisable, informal and homely feel.

There will be a superb range of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties, incorporating a mix of semi-detached and detached homes, as well as some townhouses and a small number of bungalows.

All properties will be built to traditionally high standards, benefiting from sustainable features and an excellent specification.

In addition to the new development, Bellway has made several significant financial contributions to the locality.

A total of £3,971,677 has been allocated to Section 106 contributions, including £2,400,000 towards Congleton Link Road, £966,250 to education, £507,427 to highways, £89,000 towards the environment, £5,000 to traffic management and £4,000 towards the traffic regulation order.

Bellway is due to start work on site in early 2021.
