Riverside apartment scheme submitted for planning

The proposed scheme

The Forshaw Land and Property Group has submitted plans for a 13-storey riverbank apartment scheme on the banks of the River Irwell in Salford.

Designed by Jon Matthews Architects the elegant brick building provides 130 one- and two-bedroom apartments, many with dual aspect views, a riverside terrace overlooking the water, landscaped gardens for residents, a gym and cinema.

The main access to the scheme will be from Derwent Street, which links Ordsall Lane to the river, with two entrances, one for vehicles and one for pedestrians and cyclists.

Non-car use will be encouraged with a large, secure cycle store at ground floor level able to accommodate 91 bikes and giving direct internal access to the main reception area.

There will be four more stands outside the building, together with seven car parking spaces, including one disabled space, accessed directly off Derwent Street.

The site sits within the Orsdall Riverside Masterplan which seeks create strong links with Manchester city centre and Salford and the proposals would improve the existing river path walk.

The project team comprises: Client, Forshaw Land and Property Group; architect, Jon Matthews Architects; contractor, Domis Planning; consultant, Lichfields; structural engineer, Renaissance; services engineer, Futurserv; landscape architects, TPM Landscape; transport, SK Transport.
