Contractor to serve up destination dining space with unrivalled city views

The proposed dining space

An award-winning restaurant design and build team has been appointed alongside the main contractor to create a destination dining space at the Royal College of Physicians’ (RCP) new home at The Spine in Liverpool.

Food operator CH&Co has instructed IFSE to deliver the specialist kitchen and dining requirements to provide a bespoke dining experience at the highest point in Liverpool, with some of the finest views across the city, to serve both the conference and events industry and the wider community.

CBRE’s Northern project management and building consultancy team and fit-out specialist Overbury have completed the CAT A and infrastructure works on site enabling IFSE to commence works to install a commercial kitchen for RCP, capable of fine dining and events catering, with completion earmarked for February 2021.

The project will also deliver a ground floor servery section to create a ‘grab and go’ system integrated into the members’ lounge, exhibition space and collaborative working areas.

The 70-seater dining space will be an integral part of the planned 15,000 sq ft conference and events space on the 13th floor of the building, giving diners and delegates alike unrivalled views across the city, the Isle of Man, Snowdonia and Blackpool tower on a clear day.

It will also be open to the wider community as a unique facility to the city.

A skygarden will reach through the top two floors, increasing the attractiveness of the venue and the health and wellbeing of visitors.

The conference and events space, which will include pre-conference and arrival areas, will be designed to accommodate a multitude of uses, from small boardroom meetings of up to 20 people, to flexible, column-free space for larger conference events to accommodate up to 300 delegates.

This area will also be used by the RCP as a space to host written exams.

Conference facilities include a WOW Wall (Window on the World) consisting of 18 large screens which can be split into up to 40 individual windows connecting participants through frictionless, real-time, high-quality video, creating a truly interactive, collaborative and engaging experience for remote participants.

Break out space adjacent to the WOW Wall is also available for delegates to enjoy refreshments while the area is being used.

CH&Co is an independent hospitality caterer with a passion for food that fuels emotional positivity as well as physical wellbeing and operates at more than 750 locations across the UK and Ireland.

RCP at The Spine will be a beacon of excellence, attracting high-quality healthcare professionals and staff, and driving quality improvement in a pioneering atmosphere of collaboration and partnership.

Situated in Paddington Village, part of the Knowledge Quarter, RCP at The Spine will use its anchor status in the development to welcome and support medical and scientific organisations joining the Quarter.

RCP’s new build, £35m regional home will be housed in around 70,000 sq ft over seven floors at The Spine building, as part of Liverpool City Council’s Knowledge Quarter development.

CBRE was appointed on the major commission in 2018 to advise on city and site location, technical due diligence and project and cost management services, alongside wider property advice to the RCP.

RCP at The Spine, which captures the changing nature of workplaces with wellness at the heart of its design, will provide world-class facilities for medical examinations and assessments, educational courses and conferences, an exhibition space and office areas for staff.

The building will be the Northern HQ for its work on quality improvement, patient safety and health inequalities.

Oliver Campbell, director, CBRE project management team said: “We are delighted to see works commence on the new, state-of-the-art destination dining space for RCP at The Spine.

“This will be a fantastic dining offer incorporated into the conference and events space serving the college, delegates and the Liverpool community combined.”
