Innovation helps waste management firm clean up

Mark Dunne, managing director of WasteSURE

A waste management business is proving the truth in the old northern adage “where there’s muck, there’s brass” and is preparing for further growth.

WasteSURE has invested £1m in its new headquarters in Bury and is planning to expand to Newcastle, which will be its first office outside of the North West.

Mark Dunne, co-founder and managing director of WasteSURE, said the purchase of the former courthouse in Bury and its conversion into the company’s head office will “take the company forward into the next decade during which we intend to continue our amazing growth”.

It attributes its growth to the success of its water filtration media plant, which removes up to 70% more contaminant and recycles 98% of waste product.

The company said revenues in January were 400% higher than the previous year.

Dunne added: “We operate across multiple industries and some have thrived during the pandemic.

“We work alongside a small number of large key clients and the positive relationship we have with them enabled WasteSURE to have a brilliant year and a great start to 2021. In fact, January was our best month since the business was formed in 2018.”
