Apartments given green light at Hazel Grove site following amended plan

The proposed scheme

Stockport-based Kirkland Developments has secured planning consent for 32 new apartments in Hazel Grove.

Approval was granted at Stockport’s Planning and Highways Regulation Committee last week.

The proposals will see the former Woodman Inn, on London Road, Hazel Grove, replaced with an attractive, residential development comprising 32 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Members of Stockport’s Planning and Highways Regulation Committee complimented the scheme’s design and welcomed new affordable homes into the area.

The application is an evolution of an earlier scheme that was amended following positive and constructive engagement with Stockport Borough Council.

A Kirkland Developments spokesperson said: “The Woodman Inn has been empty and unused for over eight years and our engagement with the community has shown a real appetite for the site to be brought back into use.

“This is a positive outcome for Stockport and the wider community as much needed new homes are delivered on a brownfield site.”

Kirkland Developments was supported on this application by planning consultants NJL, architects Nicol Thomas, highways consultant Vectos and engineering consultants Scott Hughes/Ridge & Partners. Lexington Communications provided public engagement and communications support.
