Supported living scheme on site in partners’ latest collaboration

The planned Alsager development

Challenger Building Services has begun work on a major specialised supported living scheme on behalf of developer Rosewood Living.

Eighteen one-bed apartments alongside residents’ communal lounges and staff space are being developed on the site of the former Alsager Arms pub on Sandbach South Road in Alsager.

The development includes 16 car parking spaces to the rear of the building.

This is the 18th supported living development that Bolton-based Challenger has collaborated on in partnership with Rosewood Living. The scheme has been supported by Cheshire East Adult Services’ commissioning team.

Rosewood Living’s Geoff Underhill said: “The project incorporates the latest adaptive technology and the design has evolved to ensure that the completed development will provide a high level of care and support.

“The focus is on providing an environment where our residents will be able to live independently in a high quality setting.”

Richard Hutchinson, managing director of Challenger, said: “The three-storey building has been designed to complement the local street scene and we are looking forward to completing yet another successful development in partnership with Rosewood Living.”

The scheme is expected to complete by April 2022 with first residents moving into their new homes shortly afterwards.

Other consultants on the scheme include Abacus Law, SATPLAN (planning), DEP Landscape Architecture (landscape design), Surety Fire Solutions (fire engineers) and Philip Wright Associates (structural engineers).
