Home Bargains in Hyndburn, Blackburn

Discount retailer Home Bargains has invested £4m in a new Lancashire store creating nearly 100 jobs.

The new site at The Peel Centre in Hyndburn, Blackburn, comes with an on-site café serving hot and cold refreshments to customers, and its own bakery, serving a range of fresh bread, pastries and cakes that will be baked in-store daily.

The store will officially open this weekend.

The new Blackburn store will join more than 500 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Jordan Gillman, the new Hyndburn store manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Peel Centre store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.

“I started my Home Bargains journey back in January 2020 as a store manager at our Burnley Retail Park site, having worked in the retail sector for over a decade. However, helping to launch the new Hyndburn store will be an accomplishment I’ll cherish for the rest of my career.”

The 32,023 sq ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Jordan added: “The Peel Centre will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

Liverpool-headquartered Home Bargains latest financial figures show the group recorded pre-tax profits of £262.7m on a turnover of £2.7bn for the 12 months to 30 June 2020, up from £2.4bn during the prior year.
