Former Revolution building to become home to gourmet doner kebab restaurant

A former Revolution building in the heart of Manchester’s student community will become home to a gourmet kebab restaurant.

German Doner Kebab, which has sites in Liverpool, Lancaster and Blackburn, will open its third Greater Manchester site on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield.

The building has been shut since early 2020 when Revolution closed some of its struggling venues.

It went up for auction in June last year and was acquired by Manchester property developer Nabeel Mussarat on behalf of his company, Property Hub.

In addition to the restaurant, the first floor is being converted into four flats.

Said Mr Mussarat: “This project has ensured that a very interesting and vibrant area has remained undeterred from its usual excitement, with the addition of the GDK only complimenting the landscape of the local area.

“Furthermore, the addition of the four flats has strengthened a very student-heavy population ensuring  that an area that represents the very best of Manchester keeps on ticking.”

He added: “Fallowfield has always been an area of interest in Manchester. It is home to a huge student population and has always boasted a wide array of bustling business and industry, so it fills me with pride to be able to add to that with new homes and a new restaurant.”

The flats are nearing their completion and are currently on the market, with German Doner Kebab taking charge of its own refurbishments and aiming for a late summer opening.

Its latest opening is part of German Doner Kebab plans to open 47 new restaurants in the UK during 2021, building significantly on the 12 opened during 2020.
