Acquisition of former Nantwich gasworks development site complete

The development site

A 1.73 acre development site on St Anne’s Lane in Nantwich, Cheshire, has been sold to three local businessmen for an undisclosed sum, in a deal brokered by Colliers.

The new owners have been granted planning permission to transform the former gasworks site into a mixed use riverside development to include a 20-bedroom hotel, 28 apartments, coffee shops, business units and parking facilities for up to 100 cars.

Mike Brassington, director in development advisory at Colliers, said: “I am pleased to have been able to complete on the disposal of this high profile development opportunity.

“The buyers have demonstrated through their well considered plans for the site that they are in touch with what residents want and need from this important development land, which links the town centre to the riverfront and on to the Mill Island public park.

“I am excited to see how the area is transformed as the plans are delivered.”

Located to the west of Nantwich town centre, the 1.73 acre development site is accessed via St Anne’s Lane and is situated adjacent to the River Weaver.
The site is currently undergoing ground remediation works by specialists Vertase FLI in conjunction with Wardell Armstrong, who carried out the ground condition report.

Colliers advised Cheshire East Council.
