Languages expert clinches NHS contract worth more than £3m

Language services provider, DA Languages, has maintained its strong growth momentum, securing its largest ever contract win, a three-year deal with the NHS in Yorkshire, worth more than £1m a year.

Based in Manchester, DA Languages is backed by investment company Foresight Group through its Regional Investment Fund and has been awarded the contract with eight NHS bodies under the NHS North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative.

Representing one of the largest NHS language service contracts in England, DA Languages will support patients by supplying its full suite of spoken and non-spoken interpretation and translation services, covering more than 200 languages, to the following organisations:

  • Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust
  • Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • Locala Community Partnership CIC

This award further strengthens DA Languages’ position in the Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire areas.

With 19 years’ industry experience, the company operates throughout all regions of the UK as well as overseas, delivering more than 60,000 interpreting sessions per month across in-person and digital channels.

Managing director, Matthew Taylor, said: “It is a pleasure to be able to contribute such wide support to the NHS, helping them through the virus period and beyond.

“Our technology and service channels will provide the NHS with urgent and critical support for limited English and non-English patients in fast paced and complex environments.

“Following the recent award of a place on the Crown Commercial Services framework, we have now secured presence on all of the eight UK Public Sector Language service frameworks.”

He added: “The business is now securely positioned to access the full Public Sector market and continue our incredible growth story for the next five years and beyond.”

Claire Alvarez, director at Foresight Group, said: “We are delighted with DA Languages’ recent performance and its strong progress in securing long term contracts.

“Matthew and the leadership team have worked incredibly hard to access the major public sector frameworks. This, along with continued investment in our differentiated technology platform, the excellent traction we are achieving in the private sector and our exceptional service levels, leave the business very well placed to continue on its impressive growth trajectory.”

Based at Old Trafford, the team at DA Languages has grown significantly from around 55 at the time for Foresight’s investment in May 2018, to more than 140.
