Grade two listed hotel set for £1m refurbishment

Broadfield Hotel

A Rochdale grade two listed hotel is set for £1m refurbishment following new ownership.

The entire building will be restored by new owners, Brilliant Hotels, who aim to make the hotel a hub for the local community.

Overlooking the historic Broadfield Park and Rochdale town hall, the hotel will offer rooms that are modern, airy and designed with comfort in mind.

Anoob Saban, managing director of Brilliant Hotels said: “I am delighted to be restoring this hotel, it has such amazing potential and we want to give the people of Rochdale a hotel they can be proud of.

“Myself and the team are really looking forward to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and hosting grand events at the hotel.”

The hotel will now have a dedicated events team for weddings, celebrations, parties and corporate events.

The historic building dates back to the early 20th century and it was originally built on the site of the old grammar school, as a nurses’ hall of residence.

The history of the building is very important to the new owners and restoring it to its former glory is one of their top priorities.

Built as a memorial to Queen Victoria, the hotel has original details in honour of Victoria including a statue of the queen that overlooks the entrance of the hotel and a beautiful stained-glass window.
