A CGI of the Greenheys scheme

Anwyl Partnerships has begun work at a large scale extra care scheme in Wirral, under a partnership agreement with Magenta Living.

Part of an £8.5m land and build agreement, the extra care housing scheme on Greenheys Road in Wallasey comprises 53 apartments and will help fulfil a much needed gap in older persons living, within this specific area.

Two existing buildings at the 1.2-acre site off Greenheys Road have been demolished to make way for the 53 apartments, which includes 45 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units, as well as car parking and extensive landscaping.

Mike Nevitt, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships, said: “It’s great to begin work on this brilliant scheme. There has been extensive planning and consultation during the development phase, identifying and recognising a real need within a specific area.

“There are no other similar older persons living developments within Wallasey and this scheme will provide a niche gap that sits between independent living and care home living.

“It’s great to once again partner with Magenta and help support them in delivering their wider housebuilding aspirations throughout Wirral and beyond.”

The scheme is expected to take 19 months to construct, with handover anticipated in early 2023.

Justine Gore, assistant director of development at Magenta Living, said: “Greenheys Road is a very exciting development for Magenta Living as it’s our biggest extra care scheme to date in Wirral.

“With an ageing population in the area, this scheme will provide 53 much needed apartments for local residents looking for independent living with care packages available.

“The development team at Magenta Living have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition and we are delighted to be working with Anwyl Partnerships, once again, to deliver this project.”

Plans for the site

Cheshire-based property company Muller has submitted proposals seeking planning permission on a 5.4 acre brownfield site in Burnley.

The site, formally home to Lodge Mill, which was demolished in 2015, sits on the Leeds Liverpool Canal and close to Reedley Marina.

It is allocated for housing in the Burnley Local Plan and the company lodged its planning application in July for 73 new homes to include two-, three- and four-bedroom mews, semi and detached houses.

The mature, tree-lined site is accessed directly off Barden Lane and benefits from canal frontage. The Muller proposal includes the creation of a green corridor along the canal with a number of properties fronting directly onto the water.

Colin Muller, chief executive at Muller Property Group, said: “We hope to secure planning for this well located site to deliver a high quality scheme of much needed new homes for the local area.

“This is an ideal location within walking distance of the town centre for a sustainable residential development on a brownfield site and we are looking forward to working with the team at Burnley Borough Council to deliver it.”

Muller has a history in building, development and land promotion across the North West. A number of recently acquired developments in Greater Manchester and Lancashire form part of a new brownfield land division for the business headed up by Stephen Howard.
