Luxury housing plans in for former Wirral fire station

Plans for the former fire station site

Chester-based Blueoak Estates, developer of luxury, sustainable homes across the North West, has submitted plans to develop 32 new homes on the site of West Kirby’s former fire station.

The landmark building, on Grange Road, has been vacant for the past five years and, under the plans, is set to be transformed from a vacant brownfield site into a high quality living development in the heart of the town.

The apartments will be set across three linked buildings ranging from three to four and a half storeys in height.

All ground floor homes will include patio areas with most of the upper floor flats having private balconies.

The development’s parking allocation is policy compliant, including six electric vehicle charging points and extensive cycle storage.

Iain Maclean, Blueoak Estates managing director, said: “This is a fantastic development proposal that makes great use of these derelict buildings, sensitively redeveloping and restoring them to create one-, two- and three-bedroom quality homes that will appeal to a range of budgets .

“There is a strong shortage of homes in the borough and this will support the council and government in meeting national and local targets in terms of housing provisions.”

Blueoak Estates said it has a rich history in acquiring abandoned or unloved buildings and redeveloping them for residential use.

Iain added: “We will continue to work closely with Wirral Council’s planning team whilst consulting with local community members to ensure we create a development that enhances the appeal and aesthetic of the town centre, whilst delivering much needed homes.”
