French company creating 60 jobs with opening of northern base

Egis office at Exchange Quay

French multinational company, Egis, has selected Manchester office campus Exchange Quay for its first northern base, creating around 60 jobs.

The news follows the announcement earlier this year that the organisation, which operates in the construction engineering and mobility services sectors, has been awarded a multi-year contract by Transport for Greater Manchester and the 10 Greater Manchester local authorities to help deliver the UK’s largest Clean Air Zone.

Egis has signed an initial five year lease term for 4,775 sq ft of offices on the third floor of Building 8 at Exchange Quay, representing the company’s third UK office and its first in the north.

The new Manchester office will be predominantly made up of new recruits, with the move signalling some 60 new jobs for the region.

Building 8 at Exchange Quay has recently benefitted from investment into its reception as part of a wider £500,000 investment programme being undertaken by Till Asset Management, acting on behalf of Exchange Quay.

The deal to Egis is the third letting that has completed in close succession within the building, following deals to RW Invest and Debt Support Services.

Manchester’s Exchange Quay has 435,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and currently accommodates more than 4,000 workers. The team reports a high level of enquiries for office accommodation which it attributes to the increased emphasis occupiers are placing on employee wellbeing in a response to the pandemic.

Liam MacCarthy, director at Till Asset Management, said: “To have succeeded in attracting Egis to Exchange Quay following their extensive search covering the whole of Greater Manchester is testament to the environment we have created here and the people who work tirelessly to ensure that the occupier experience is second to none.

“The scheme always ticks boxes on location, flexibility of suites, potential to expand within the development and the range of transport options we have, but it is always the intangible ‘feel’ of the place that companies find inimitable.

“We have welcomed many high profile organisations to our tenant mix this year and look forward to Egis becoming operational later this year.”

The fit-out works are being undertaken by Aztec Interiors with Egis taking occupation of its new office before the end of the year.

Nigel Coltman, Greater Manchester Clean Air Zone managing director at Egis, said: “We’re delighted to not only be a part of a prestigious project within Greater Manchester, but to also be moving into our fantastic new space at 8 Exchange Quay and setting up our first northern base in the UK.

“Being a sustainably focused company, it was important for us to choose an office base in an area that had a focus on regeneration and innovation and Exchange Quay was the ideal choice.

“The location is great for transport links around Greater Manchester and there is a sense of community across the Exchange Quay campus which I know our employees will really enjoy and play a part in. We’re delighted to be moving in and look forward to our future here.”

Colliers and Canning O’Neill are joint agents on the scheme and CBRE acted on behalf of Egis.
