Garratts expand to Lancaster
A longstanding Preston insurance broker is expanding with the launch of a new office in Lancaster.
Garratts Insurance Brokers, founded by the Garratt family 130 years ago, has opened an office on Castle Hill to handle clients in Lancaster, north Lancashire and Cumbria.
The family-run firm is hoping the expansion will help it to increase income by 30% this year.
Director Richard Garratt, who will head the office with John Grindley, said: “We have been looking to expand into north Lancashire and Cumbria for quite some time and Lancaster is the ideal strategic location for us to build on our existing client portfolio in the area.
“Over the last 12 months we have seen enquiries more than double, especially during the recession, with more companies looking to cut their costs but without cutting their cover. With our new office we are perfectly placed to grow the business throughout the North West region by offering tailor-made policies for existing and potential new clients.”
The Garratt family started trading as insurance brokers in Preston in 1877 and has established a reputation as a specialist corporate insurance broker. It acts for clients nationwide including ferry company Seafrance and Preston-based furniture business Tetrad.
