Joinery firm on course to double capacity and turnover following latest investment
Manufacturing capacity at a Chorley joinery firm has doubled following a £350,000 investment in new machinery.
Inscape Interiors, based at Lower Healey Business Park, makes bespoke joinery products for the construction sector.
It specialises in the manufacture and installation of washrooms and changing environments, working with some of the biggest names in construction.
It recently installed the new machinery, while also undertaking a complete reconfiguration of the factory layout.
The new investments have the given the company the potential to double turnover, and its order book continues to grow.
Managing director, Gary Wynne, said: “This latest investment will help us achieve greater automation and is part of our strategy to make us ready for Industry 4.0, the so-called fourth industrial revolution.
“This is not just about machinery though, it’s also about upskilling our workforce. We’re a people business first and foremost and we’re investing significantly in our training, especially skills in automation software, and looking to strengthen our apprenticeship scheme.”
As well as washroom environments, Inscape also manufactures specialist wall panels and furniture products.
It has recently undertaken projects for contractors including Laing O’Rourke, Wates Construction and Bowmer & Kirkland. Projects include the New Bailey development in Manchester city centre, the Sands Centre in Carlisle and the new Christie Cancer Care centre in Macclesfield.
Gary added: “We’re really optimistic about the future. 2021 has been a fight back year for us following the ground we all lost in 2020 because of the pandemic. The construction industry is now recovering from those shocks and our order book is possibly the strongest it’s ever been.”
Inscape secured grant funding from Made Smarter to support its investment plans. The company has also worked closely with the innovation teams at UCLan and Edge Hill University to help bring its plans to fruition.
