Supermarket launches consultation on latest store plans

Lidl has launched a consultation on draft plans for a new store on land off Market Place in Adlington.

The new supermarket would be the company’s first in Adlington and have a 1,256 sq m sales area including long-style tills, a bakery and customer toilets.

The reconfigured car park would include 94 parking spaces including accessible, parent and child and EV charging points.

The Adlington scheme is part of Lidl’s ongoing £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across Great Britain for 2021 and 2022.

The new store would create around 40 new jobs.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Stuart Jardine, said: “We are delighted to launch this public consultation for our exciting plans to bring a new Lidl store to Adlington. We know that Adlington currently has limited supermarkets available, and we feel a new Lidl represents a much-needed fresh choice for residents. We hope that as many people as possible are able to join us for this public consultation. We look forward to sharing and discussing our plans with everyone.”

Lidl will accept feedback from the public consultation with view to submitting a planning application to Chorley Borough Council in the coming months.
