Former school site to be redeveloped as 82-home residential scheme

Heaton Mersey plans

A former school site in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, has been purchased to be converted into a residential development of 82 homes.

Anwyl Partnerships has bought the former Focus School site off Didsbury Road.

The former school was privately owned and operated but has relocated to new premises outside the borough in 2019, and the site has since remained unused and unoccupied.

Sam Oliver, land director at Anwyl Partnerships, said: “The Focus school site represents an exceptional acquisition for Anwyl and is a continuation of our activities and investment in Stockport and the wider Greater Manchester region.

“The former proposals which obtained planning consent more than two years ago will need to be reconsidered to ensure we create a viable scheme that can unlock the site, delivering much needed housing in Stockport through our flexible mixed tenure approach.

“Our draft proposals for the site are now beginning to take shape and look really exciting.”

Sam added: “We will soon begin a consultation process with local residents seeking their views ahead of the submission of a full planning application.”

Anwyl Partnerships has also submitted plans for 66 apartments off Ladybridge Road, Cheadle Hulme and is expecting a decision in the summer.
