Public consultation opens on plans for 270 Pendleton homes

Plans for the site

Plans to create 270 new homes on the site of a former Pendleton bingo hall are being put to public consultation.

Donard Affordable Homes aims to deliver the scheme on brownfield land on the corner of Hankinson Way and Belvedere Road, the site of the former Buzz Bingo Hall.

It comprises 270 homes, of one-, two-, and three-bed apartments, delivered as affordable homes to rent.

Donard says the development offers excellent transport links to Salford and Manchester and residents would be within walking distance of nearby shops, leisure facilities, health centre, and schools.

The design is aimed at respecting the area’s heritage, while creating modern and attractive homes of a variety of sizes.

The proposal is for three residential buildings, landscaping, a new children’s play area, and private outdoor space for residents and visitors.

Donard is inviting the local community to view the plans and have their say by visiting www.newhomespendleton.co.uk. The public consultation will run until Wednesday, May 4.

Paul Thornton, spokesperson for Donard Affordable Homes, said: “Our proposed plans in Pendleton will deliver a transformational development with sustainability and high quality design principles at its heart.

“Our ambition is to bring forward a scheme which can revitalise this important site and help address the local housing shortage with much needed affordable homes.

“As responsible neighbours, we’re committed to delivering a scheme with the best interest of the community at its heart. We’re looking forward to hearing from members of the community and receiving their feedback to help shape our plans.”
