Fragrance firm scents further growth after seven-figure funding support
A Lancashire fragrance manufacturer is continuing with ambitious expansion plans after receiving a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK.
Family-owned Carvansons is based on Knowsley Park Way, Haslingden.
The firm is planning further international growth throughout Europe, South-East Asia and Africa – it currently exports 60% of its fragrance and perfume products to countries worldwide.
Its financial package has helped the firm to invest in new software and integrate more efficient processes into its 65,000 sq ft Haslingden facility, which opened in February 2022.
Carvansons has also increased its staffing levels from 50 to 102 over the past 18 months and is forecasting a 20% increase in turnover over the next year.
Managing director, Luke Whowell, said: “Our business continues to grow year-on-year, despite the huge impact of the pandemic on staffing levels and a challenging global market landscape.
“The funding provided by HSBC UK has enabled us to streamline our operations, explore new business opportunities and drive efficiencies within our new facility. This means we can focus on offering our ever-growing customer base a more personalised service.”
He added: “As an employee-led business that prioritises staff wellbeing and development, we’re delighted to be now be able to offer apprenticeships and develop a range of exciting career opportunities in the Rossendale area.”

Established in 1941 and with the founding family now in its third generation, Carvansons creates fragrances and perfumes, which can be found in a wide range of household name applications and products.
The Haslingden site boasts perfumery laboratories, a modern office, customer sampling zones and a 50,000 sq ft perfume manufacturing and warehousing facility. Carvansons was recently nominated for a Lancashire Red Rose Award in the Export category.
