Colne-based wastewater monitoring specialists, Detectronic, has seen revenue, profits and staffing levels rise following global water industry project wins and new product launches.

The firm has achieved a 140% increase in turnover of £6.7m in the year to April 2021, compared with £2.8m in 2020.

Pre-tax profits have jumped from £377,500 in 2020 to £1.7m for 2021, and the company has grown in headcount by 84% to 60 staff.

Managing director, Neil Butler, said: “We’re obviously delighted with these financials which bear testament to the team’s unrelenting hard work and focus on achieving our long term commercial objectives.

“Like many businesses, we had to place several of our staff on furlough just two years ago. As such, the fact that we were able to record exponential growth during that time underlines the shared commitment we all have to succeed – I’m extremely proud of each and every one of my colleagues in that respect.”

He added: “Over the last few years we have invested heavily in new product development, including the launch of our pioneering, low-cost LIDoTT monitor that is taking the global water industry by storm.

“This product, which was granted a UK patent earlier this year, is already in operation in various sites across the UK as well as in Australia, Germany, Singapore, Finland, Canada and Turkey.”

He said that, as well as driving product innovation, Detectronic worked closely with both its water industry and commercial customers, to help them meet ever-changing regulations, prevent pollutions and flooding, improve processes and, ultimately, save money.

“Our proactive approach and ability to find solutions through smart network monitoring has made us the ‘go-to’ wastewater specialist.

“We have also appointed a number of new channel partners over the last 12 months and are actively seeking to recruit more in a variety of regions all over the world. This activity will only enhance our planned overseas expansion and enable us to open even more new doors.”

He added: “It is now our focus to continue this growth trajectory by maximising every sales opportunity and further adding to the incredible team of people here at Detectronic.”
