Garden centre business relocating to new purpose-built premises

Expansion is planned for garden centre business, Whitakers, which is relocating to Manchester Road, Prescot.

The retailer is moving half a mile from its original location on Liverpool Road to a new purpose-built facility.

Work is already well under way on the new site and the business expects to open the doors to customers next spring.

The landmark garden centre, established nearly 110 years ago, will remain open at its current location until January 2023.

The new premises will offer shoppers around 1,500 sq m of retail space which will stock the business’s full range. In addition, there will be a new, larger café.

Manager, Ian Lammond, said: “Work is well under way on our new premises, and we’re excited to welcome customers to our beautiful new store in the spring.

“This relocation is just the latest development in the company’s long history and we are excited to be sharing our plans with our loyal customers.”
