Manchester-based professional services firm, AMS Accountants Group, has acquired Seneca Corporate Finance, for an undisclosed sum.

The mid-market corporate finance boutique has been sold by Newton-le-Willows investment management firm Seneca Partners.

Following the transaction Seneca Corporate Finance will be rebranding and Seneca Partners will focus on its core investment management business.

Seneca Corporate Finance, has a team of corporate finance specialists advising business owners and management teams in the mid-market that are seeking to sell, acquire or raise capital and debt for their businesses.

The acquisition strengthens the services already offered by AMS, which has recently been recognised as one of the fastest growing mid-market professional services firms (from the Top 100) in the industry by Accountancy Age.

The acquisition is in line with the AMS’s strategy to substantially increase its presence in the corporate finance market through a combination of both organic growth and bolt-on acquisitions.

The AMS Group and the associated network have a strong pipeline of work and will look to further strengthen the corporate finance team over the coming months with a number of senior hires. AMS is also in active conversations to acquire a transactions services firm and a debt advisory firm to broaden the offering in the corporate finance advisory sector.

Gordon Lane, managing director of Seneca CF, said: “We see a strong cultural fit centred around core values such as client satisfaction and employee empowerment. We have a strong team and a pipeline of work which will only be enhanced by the quality client base within the AMS Group.

“As a leadership team we have ambitious growth plans to become the leading mid-market corporate finance team in the North West and the capital base to make it happen.”

Ebrahim Sidat, CEO of AMS Accountants Group, said: “Gordon and the team have established a great reputation within the mid-market corporate finance market and we are excited about being able to offer our clients and network good quality corporate finance advice.

“The AMS Group as a whole has strong organic growth, which has been bolstered by three strategic acquisitions this year – including a tax disputes and investigations business and a tax law firm – with three more currently in legals to complete by the end of year.

“We have doubled our staff count this year alone and have many positions available across the group.”

He added: “We look forward to completing the end of the year with unprecedented growth for the AMS Group and, more importantly, a fantastic management team, forging the foundation for sustainable future growth.”
