A North West engineering firm has announced record turnover and profit figures for the year to December 2021.

Skelmersdale-based Walker Engineering achieved sales of £3.9m, which were an improvement on the previous year’s figure of £2.2m.

Pre-tax profits of £403,852 were an 81% improvement on the prior £222,174 figure.

The firm delivers mechanical and electrical fabrication, installation and maintenance across the UK.

It said its growth has been, in no small part, due to the work and expertise of its expanding team, which has grown by 36% over the past 12 months, from 19 to 26.

The family-led firm has worked on a number of high profile jobs throughout the past financial year, including the installation of a blend tank facility in Widnes, worth £600,000, and the structural steelwork supply for a property site in Formby, north Merseyside, worth £240,000.

The business, which is owned and operated by husband and wife team, managing director Andy, and director of operations, Sarah Walker, works on projects across a range of sectors including chemical and food industries.

Walker Engineering has also been involved in four large structural steelwork projects in the North West, showcasing its expertise in fabrication and pipework.

Andy Walker said: “These figures would not have been possible without the dedication, skill and perseverance of our talented workforce. We pride ourselves on being a family-led business with real family values at its heart.

“Our team listens to our customers and goes the extra mile to simplify and manage processes for them. I think this is what sets us apart from our rivals and which has contributed to our growth.

“From what started out as a one-man band operation to the growing firm we see today, it is a very encouraging start to our 20th anniversary in 2023.”
