Christmas bonus for staff at full service law firm after record first half results
JMW Solicitors has paid staff a Christmas bonus after record first half revenues rose by 12%.
The law firm, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool and London, posted revenues of £36.2m in the six months to October 31, 2022, which is a £3.7m increase on the same period the previous year.
Depending on the economy going forward, the firm is likely to exceed its financial target for the 2022/2023 fiscal year of £71.8m.
Marc Yaffe, managing partner at the full service firm, said each staff member will receive the same Christmas bonus, no matter their role.
He said: “We are extremely pleased with our continued growth. Our record six-month performance has been fuelled by the requirements of our existing clients and the addition of new clients across all areas of our firm. Our ambitious growth plans are aligned with our clients’ needs.
“The success we continue to enjoy is supported by the hard work of all our partners and staff and this is why we wanted to reward them with a bonus again at Christmas. We are extremely proud of all our staff.”
JMW was recently ranked in the Times Best Law Firms 2023 for Commercial Dispute Resolution, Family, Insolvency & Restructuring, Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence and Professional Negligence.
Legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners 2023 both ranked the Family, Clinical Negligence and Business Crime & Regulatory teams in the North West in Tier 1. The firm also recently ranked 28th in the Large Best Companies to Work For and ranked in the top five for the legal sector.
JMW said it continues to recruit extensively, with a number of lateral hires at partner level. In the past year staff numbers have grown across the firm from 624 in October 2021, to 714 at the end of October 2022.
Joy Kingsley, joint senior partner, said: “We are pleased to have continued to grow in the current climate. Our numbers have grown by 90 across all our offices in the last year and we are pleased to have attracted lateral hires to the firm such as Julian Richards, Ikram Malik, Cathy Leech and Robin Sharp in recent months.”
Robin Sharp joined the Real Estate Commercial team in October from Hill Dickinson as a partner. The Employment team in Manchester was recently joined by Julian Richards and Ikram Malik as partners. Julian joined from Shoosmiths’ London office.
In October, JMW’s Personal Injury team was joined by Cathy Leech, from Irwin Mitchell, as a partner.
