The operators of a Kirkdale hotel are looking to build on their success with the launch of a pod hotel on the edge of Liverpool city centre.

The Phoenix Pods is a 32-room site within walking distance of the city’s waterfront attractions.

Rob Edwards and James Winters of Edwards Winters Developments had previously transformed an abandoned building into The Phoenix Hotel and have now invested £500,000 in the creation of the Phoenix Pods.

Winters said: “The Phoenix Pods are situated in an ideal location for all visitors to Liverpool; party-goers, football fans, business guests and those who want to experience our famous, world-renowned culture. We are also excited to host guests from across the world for Eurovision in 2023.”

Liverpool city centre has around 9,000 hotel bedrooms and pre-pandemic the city’s hotel occupancy rates averaged 78%.

Big events like Eurovision and the influx of visitors for Liverpool and Everton football matches continue to boost numbers.

The Phoenix Pods is close to where Everton’s new stadium is being built while music events create further demand.

Musician Willow Smith, daughter of Hollywood legend Will Smith, booked out the entire Phoenix Hotel for her recent visit to Liverpool.
