Award win can boost your small business

Award win can boost your small business
Last year's winner: “Our business in the North West has only been going for nearly four years and so to get that sort of recognition in that short space of time was hugely important."

TheBusinessDesk.com North West Business of the Year awards is now open for entries and we want to hear from small businesses across the region.

The Small Business (up to 50 employees) category will showcase the achievements of small businesses across all industries.

The last two years have been a challenging time for small businesses so this is an ideal opportunity for small businesses to showcase their achievements and their resilience by entering this year’s awards.

Last year’s Small Business of the year award went to Claritas Tax, which was up against Four Recruitment, Hall Brown Family Law, Lavatech (inCase), and Realm Recruit.

The company had experienced strong growth across its Manchester and Birmingham office with revenues climbing 45% in 2022, doubling turnover over the last two years.

The firm has now grown to 45 fee-earners across both offices, with the appointment of 10 new members last year.

Its Manchester office is now set to double its workforce further as it prepares to move to larger premises on Deansgate.

Commenting on the awards Matt Hodgson, partner at Claritas Tax, said: “First and foremost, it was a genuine surprise to win and I say this because of the other finalists in our category which were all strong businesses and well known in the region.

“So, while we were surprised on the night, we were absolutely delighted to win because the award gives you recognition in your own marketplace and that is massively important.

“Our business in the North West has only been going for nearly four years and so to get that sort of recognition in that short space of time was hugely important.

“It also recognises the growth in the business over recent years.

“We’ve been busy, we’re doing things differently and that shows in our staff recruitment and retention and overall growth.

“We’re due to move to larger premises soon, and this will give us scope to double headcount in Manchester and continue our growth trajectory.”

He added: “It’s also a really good night for the business community and we met some amazing people.”

Judges also noted: “We were impressed by the firm’s growth trajectory and focus on people and clients.”
