Sale of Stretford RAC site offers ‘rare development opportunity’

The Manchester development and residential team at CBRE has been appointed to sell RAC House, in Stretford.

Following the recent announcement that the RAC will relocate its call centre operations, the breakdown assistance service and car insurance provider has now instructed CBRE to bring the site to market.

The 4.5-acre site comprises a 56,000 sq ft office building which has a 200 metre frontage overlooking Bridgewater Canal.

With excellent transport connectivity, RAC House is located within walking distance of Stretford Metrolink and Stretford Mall.

The site also sits within an area which is garnering a lot of interest from developers with Urmston, Stretford and Old Trafford all attracting significant investment.

The adjacent site, which comprises decommissioned gas holders, is also being marketed for sale by National Grid, giving potential for a wider regeneration of the area.

Kieran McLaughlin, senior director, CBRE, said: “It is rare that a development opportunity of this scale with canal frontage becomes available in this area and could suit a wide range of potential uses in a rapidly improving market.”
