Sportscool, a Blackburn-based specialist provider of sports education for primary schools, is aiming to create more than 150 jobs this year.

It has unveiled plans to more than double its workforce over the next 12 months as it continues to roll out ambitious national expansion plans.

SportsCool works with schools to enhance the delivery of curricular and extra-curricular physical education, with the view that every child should have the chance to participate, progress and achieve.

It currently works closely with more than 400 education providers and has in excess of 100 people working in its organisation. Its plans for 2023 look to create another 150-plus jobs as it opens new operations up and down the country.

Founded more than 15 years ago, SportsCool currently has 28 operations across the whole of the UK.

All its activities are underpinned by the company’s ethos of ‘Educate: Motivate: Participate’. Its coaches make it their mission to find a sport for every child to love.

Director, Lee Lysons, said: “The central theme to our work is that every child should have the chance to participate, progress and achieve. This in turn has a profound effect on self-esteem, confidence, motivation, physical aptitude, and all-round mental and physical health. It’s a message we continue to deliver across the country, alongside our innovative, fun sessions.

“At SportsCool we believe that sports education is fundamental to a child’s development, and we work with primary schools to that end.

“We’re seeing increasing interest in the sessions that SportsCool’s coaches deliver and each new operation we open is making a real difference locally. Our expansion plans for the next 12 months will see us looking to get established in communities across the country.”

SportsCool’s work supporting the Government-funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, through its delivery of holiday clubs for local authorities, also continues to grow. Its summer sessions last year were enjoyed by almost 10,000 children.

Lee said: “Our HAF holiday clubs are designed to provide young people with a wide range of activities. Evidence shows that free holiday clubs can have a positive impact on children and young people, helping tackle problems such as social isolation and we’re proud of the part we’ve played in this important programme.”
