Death knell for student scheme as administrators called in

How the development would look

A major student accommodation scheme in Nottingham looks set to never see the light of day after a developer’s parent company called in administrators.

Manchester-based Crosslane (Huntingdon Street Nottingham) Limited submitted preliminary proposals for a six storey, 210-bed student block at 5-17 Huntingdon Street back in October 2019.

The scheme looked to be in jeopardy earlier this year when the company posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators (NOI) – protecting itself from creditors for a period of ten days.

Then, almost exactly two months later, its parent, Crosslane Student Developments UK Limited, posted its own NOI. Its accounts are overdue according to Companies House.

Now, administrators from Leonard Curtis have taken over the day-to-day running of Crosslane Student Developments, surely killing off the Huntingdon Street scheme.

The company secured planning permission for its Nottingham site in October 2021 and had hoped to see the development occupied by the start of the 2023/24 academic year.

Plans designed by Day Architectural included a gym, private dining facilities, a cinema, games area, study space and a private courtyard.

Leonard Curtis has been approached for comment.
