A Salford Quays contractor is involved in two key developments with a combined value of more than £500,000.

RECOM Solutions is nearing completion on two new food and drink venues in Manchester city centre.

The firm is the main contractor for a scheme which will see Half Dozen Other, part of the Pot Kettle Black group, open its first customer bakery and coffee shop in the Red Bank Arches.

A warehouse in the up-and-coming Red Bank neighbourhood is being converted into a 4,500 sq ft artisan outlet serving standard breads, sweet and savoury croissants, Danish pastries, flavoured focaccias, cakes and viennoiserie alongside modern takes on classic bakes. Customers will be able to watch work taking place at the bakehouse.

Half Dozen Other has taken a 10-year lease on the premises in an area which forms a major part of the Victoria North regeneration scheme led by developer Far East Consortium.

Half Dozen Other will join a growing number of independent food outlets in the area.

RECOM has previously undertaken the fit-out of Pot Kettle Black’s coffee shop in Manchester’s Angel Gardens.

Meanwhile the firm is also on site on Swan Street in the city’s Northern Quarter, where it is converting the former Mecanica bar into a new venue for Urban Village Bars.

It is the main contractor for the project, which involves an extensive refurbishment over two floors, plus façade works.

The new bar will be called The Wayfarer and will be the latest addition to Urban Village Bars’ portfolio, which includes The Freemount and Another Heart to Feed in the Northern Quarter, and the West Village bar in Didsbury, south Manchester – all of which were fitted out by RECOM.

RECOM, which was founded in 2015 by directors Jason McKnight and Joseph Dillon, has its headquarters on the Waters Edge Business Park in Salford Quays. The company undertakes construction project management and main contracting work across sectors including healthcare, education, retail and leisure, commercial and residential.

It also provides consultancy services to assist in the design and delivery of health and safety, sustainability, passive fire protection and cladding projects.

Jordan Stent

Jordan Stent, head of construction at RECOM, said: “We are thrilled to be continuing and strengthening our working relationships with the Pot Kettle Black group and Urban Village Bars with these contracts.

“It’s an exciting time for Manchester city centre, and managing projects such as these, which will help add further to the vibrancy and choice on offer, is extremely pleasing for the whole team at RECOM.”
