New dentsu Manchester office

Advertising and PR group, dentsu, has opened its Manchester hub at Department Bonded Warehouse in Enterprise City.

The Japanese-owned group said the move marks an exciting new chapter for the company as it joins the innovative community at the heart of the city’s media, creative and tech industries.

The modern warehouse space operated by Department is designed to foster collaboration and innovation, with dentsu bringing together 800 people from across the network’s central teams and its agencies – including Carat, iProspect, dentsu X, Merkle and Dentsu Creative.

The relocation follows more than 25 years on Portland Street and represents dentsu’s dedication to flexible, hybrid ways of working which are enabling its people, clients and partners to enjoy new, state of the art facilities, including a recording studio, café, condition gym and more.

The new space is powered by 100% renewable energy, in line with dentsu’s commitment to future-proof its energy strategy and accelerate delivery of its net zero ambitions.

Dentsu was the first in the industry to achieve RE100 status, operating globally on 100% renewable energy and one of the first seven companies in the world to have its net zero target verified by the SBTi, setting a benchmark for corporate net zero commitments.

Angela Tangas, dentsu UK&I CEO, said: “We’re incredibly proud to build on our strong heritage in Manchester and come together as part of Department and Enterprise City’s booming, modern industry community – demonstrating our ongoing commitment to diversity and building on our deep local expertise.

“As a people-centred business, we remain committed to flexible, hybrid ways of working and creating environments where everyone can thrive.

“The new space provides an exceptional collaboration space that’s environmentally friendly where any and all members of our teams, clients and partners can have a great experience.”

Anthony Powell, managing director of Department, said: “Adding dentsu to the community of creative, media and marketing businesses we have at Department Bonded Warehouse is fantastic.”

The deal to bring dentsu UK to Department Bonded Warehouse and Manchester’s Enterprise City was spearheaded by commercial real estate firm, OBI Property.

Andrew Cowell, transactions and asset management at OBI, said: “Dentsu will be a fantastic addition to Enterprise City, which as a scheme continues to gather serious momentum. We look forward to seeing the scheme progress in the coming months.”
