Affordable homes deal as part of wider Partington development
A deal to create 26 new affordable homes has been concluded between developer Countryside Partnerships and affordable housing provider, Great Places.
It is linked to a scheme to provide 126 homes, which has been approved, as reserved matters planning permission, by Trafford Council, in the next phase of the Heath Farm site, in Partington.
The homes will comprise two-, three- and four-bedroom houses.
Once complete, Heath Farm will boast a total of 100 affordable homes, 74 of which were delivered in the first phases. Additionally, the development includes a specialised skills academy designed to combat the nationwide skills shortage affecting the construction industry.
The location of the new homes, off Heath Farm Lane in Partington, is part of the 29-hectares of brownfield land being developed jointly by Vistry Group and L&Q. The wider scheme will eventually see a total of 600 new homes brought to this increasingly popular part of Greater Manchester.
Joe Turner, managing director, Manchester and Cheshire East, Countryside Partnerships, said: “We are very pleased to once again partner with Great Places to deliver much needed affordable homes and to help create a place where people will enjoy living and spending their time.
“Countryside has a strong track record of working with our partners to deliver housing and regenerating areas to meet local housing demand. Heath Farm represents a significant investment in the transformation of a brownfield site into what will be a benefit not just for those who make their home here, but also for the wider community.”
Nick Gornall, director of development at Great Places, said: “The new homes at Heath Farm, alongside those at nearby Millbank Lock, also delivered in partnership with Countryside, will provide a total of 143 affordable homes in an increasingly popular area of Trafford and an ideal spot for first time buyers and families alike to put down their roots and become part of a thriving community.
“Building much needed affordable housing continues to be a key priority in all the areas Great Places operate in, and Countryside shares our commitment to creating great homes across Greater Manchester.
“Our partnership has allowed us to deliver thousands of new affordable homes across the years and at present we have 440 affordable homes in construction on joint sites across Greater Manchester, this highlights the importance and power of a partnership approach. We look forward to bringing more sites forward in this way to enable the delivery of further affordable homes across Greater Manchester.”
