Enterprise on track with £300m contracts

ENTERPRISE, the North West infrastructure maintenance support services company, has won contracts worth £300m.
The Leyland-based company has won two contracts from the Highways Agency – each worth £150m over five years via its 50/50 joint venture with Mouchel.
The contracts are for the management, maintenance and operation of the motorway and major trunk roads in Cornwall and Devon in the South West and in north Lancashire and Cumbria in the North West.
The initial contract in both areas is for five years with an option for a two year extension. The contract in the South West is a renewal, unlike the North West deal, which is new business. The commissions are due to begin in July.
Neil Kirkby, chief executive of Enterprise stated: “We are very pleased to have been appointed for both of these contracts. The joint venture won the contract for Highways Agency Area 3 – (covering Hampshire and Berkshire) in March 2008 and has now built further upon that success.
“These awards are more evidence of the strong relationships Enterprise has built with customers and companies with complementary skills and experience.”
Enterprise, which is owned by private equity firm 3i, employs 13,000 people nationwide. Its joint venture with Mouchel specialises in providing highways network management services to the public sector.
