Housing market on the up, says Blackpool conveyancer

A BLACKPOOL legal firm is reporting an upturn in the Fylde housing market, after seeing an upsurge in conveyancing work over the last six months.
Blackhurst Budd Solicitors says its conveyancing team has seen a 10% rise in work for August 2009 to the end of January 2010.
John Taylor, head of the firm’s residential conveyancing team, said: “With the down turn in the housing market in 2008, conveyancing has been at an all time low in the North West, with our workload less than half of what it was two years ago.
“However over the last six months we have seen real signs of an upturn… and these figures also include January which is notorious for being a quiet month for conveyancing work.”
He added: “Conveyancing is always a good barometer of the housing market, and with work on the increase we could be seeing signs of recovery on the Fylde.”
The firm, which has 64 staff and 13 partners, also launched a commercial team in January.
