Land deal paves way to new 143-home development
A scheme to build around 143 homes has been boosted after the exchange of contracts on land allocated for housing on the outskirts of Kendal.
York-based housebuilder Charles Church has completed the purchase for the site on the edge of the Lake District National Park.
The land, off Windermere Road, High Sparrowmire, is allocated for housing in the adopted South Lakeland Local Plan.
Subject to planning consent, the proposed scheme will meet a need for family housing in the area, offering a mix of one- to five-bedroom properties.
Although details are still to be finalised, the housebuilder anticipates 35% of the homes will be delivered as affordable rent or discount to market value.
Andrew Laing, Land and Planning Director, Charles Church, Lancashire said: “This proposal will make a significant contribution towards housing needs in Cumbria and
deliver high quality new homes with significant open space for residents and the wider community to enjoy.”
A planning application is now being prepared for submission to Westmorland and Furness Council.
