Affordable homes provider clinches deal to acquire 51 homes

Manchester-based Great Places Housing Group has acquired 51 homes in Greater Manchester from Vistry Group.
The affordable homes provider now owns 27 shared ownership homes at The Fairways at Brackley Village in Salford, where Vistry is also providing 138 private rented sector homes, managed by Sigma under its Simple Life Homes brand, and 180 open market homes sold by Vistry’s Countryside Homes retail brand.
The remaining 24 homes are located at Vistry’s Calico Grove development, on the site of the former Royle Works in Castleton, Rochdale.
Great Places’ latest acquisition means that they now own 126 homes at the development, which consists of 222 homes in total. All apartments will be available for affordable rent.
Joe Turner, Managing Director, Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “Both of our organisations are committed to delivering more mixed-tenure, affordable homes, and by working together on these two sites we can offer more housing choice to local people and help meet Greater Manchester’s pressing need for affordable housing.”
Nick Gornall, Director of Development at Great Places, said: “Affordable housing continues to be a key priority in all of the areas we operate in, and Vistry shares our ongoing commitment to creating great homes across a wide variety of communities.
“Our acquisition of 27 shared ownership homes at The Fairways and 24 homes at Calico Grove is part of this commitment to provide much needed affordable housing options.”
The first completions of the affordable homes at The Fairways will be in the summer of 2024, with the apartment block at Calico Grove scheduled to be complete by summer 2025.
