Chorley-based Northern Trust Company has begun construction on a new industrial/trade counter development at Sneckyeat Industrial Estate in Whitehaven.

The new development will add an additional 22,000 sq ft across eight units to the estate, which currently extends to 45,000 sq ft in a mix of terraces, semi-detached and individual buildings.

Nick Hemmings, Regional Property Manager for Northern Trust, said: “We are thrilled to announce the latest development of high quality industrial units at Sneckyeat Industrial Estate, Whitehaven.

“The strategic expansion of the estate reflects our commitment to enhancing the economic landscape and supporting business growth in the area.”

He added: “We have already secured a letting of over 6,500 sq ft to a national operator, marking a significant step forward in the project, with the remaining units currently available for pre-let ahead of the expected completion early next year.”

Located strategically in Whitehaven, the new development is positioned to meet the evolving needs of businesses in the area, offering a range of unit sizes from 1,087 to 4,435 sq ft, tailored to accommodate a variety of industries across the small and medium size business sector.

Northern Trust’s existing property portfolio extends to nine million sq ft of industrial, trade counter and office parks, together with more than 5,000 acres of land throughout the UK.

Its current offering throughout Cumbria extends to more than 450,000 sq ft of business space across 11 locations and it is actively seeking opportunities to expand through further acquisitions and development.
