Northern Light to shine in Stanley Square with new cinema opening

As part of the redevelopment of Sale town centre, asset manager, Altered Space, has agreed a lease with Manero Cinemas which will see the group open its sixth cinema, in Stanley Square.
The introduction of the new cinema will further enhance the scheme which has benefited from significant capital investment and regeneration in the past three years.
The 15-year lease will see Manero Cinemas open its doors to the The Northern Light, a 153-seat, three-screen independent cinema, offering the latest low energy laser projection, surround sound and choice of seating including armchairs and sofas.
The cinema will be located in the current WHSmith unit which will be vacated at the end of September.
Owner and managing director of Manero Cinemas, Tony Mundin, said: “We are thrilled to bring an affordable, luxury experience to Sale for everyone to enjoy a regular trip to the cinema. Stanley Square seemed like the perfect location to open The Northern Light, due to the welcoming community of tenants and its revitalised aesthetic.”
The Northern Light is the latest of around 20 independent tenants that have joined Stanley Square since its redevelopment. Set to be open year-round, excluding Christmas day, the cinema is poised to further increase footfall which has already seen an eight per cent rise year on year as a result of the redevelopment.
Stanley Square, Sale, has become a destination in its own right following its regeneration. Led by Altered Space, its new-found vibrancy is attracting a range of businesses. Focusing on supporting local independents, community and collaboration, this formula has proved most effective for creating a fully-let, mixed-use asset.
Director of Altered Space, Michael Brown, said: “The new luxury cinema will be a great addition to Stanley Square, further adding to our list of strong independent traders. The Northern Light will contribute to Sale’s growing town centre economy, particularly complementing our existing food and beverage outlets.
“Regeneration is an ongoing process and we look forward to fulfilling further opportunities throughout the year.”
Work is set to begin on the new unit later his year with the cinema opening its doors in early 2025.
Existing as an ongoing regeneration project, Stanley Square will also see £750,000-worth of works to the multi-storey car park completed by October this year to create 220 modern and accessible spaces.
