Vertu swoops for Widnes site

VERTU Motors, the listed company behind the Bristol Street Motors brand, has made a fresh acquisition in the region.

The Newcastle-based group has paid £3.2m for Widnes Car Centre (1994) Limited, which comprises a Nissan dealership in Widnes, Cheshire, and a mobility vehicle conversion business based in Batley, West Yorkshire.

The Nissan dealership will be Vertu’s fourth, while the mobility vehicle conversion business, which includes both wheelchair accessible vehicles and more tailored vehicle adaptations, and previously traded as Versa, will now be know as Bristol Street Versa Mobility Solutions.

Last year Vertu acquired dealerships in Altrincham and Macclesfield from listed rival Lookers.

In a trading update ahead of its half year figures Vertu, which now has 83 sales and aftersales sites across the country, said the consumer environment “remains both challenging and volatile”.
