Black Cat Club pads into Liverpool in former El Gato Negro Exchange Flags site

The company behind the El Gato Negro tapas restaurants has revealed a new venture in Liverpool.

It will open Black Cat Club, a venue combining premium cocktails, social gaming, and live sports and entertainment, in the Exchange Flags space that El Gato Negro vacated last month.

The popular tapas restaurant relocated to the former Viva Brazil site on Castle Street.

Black Cat Club, from Mills Hill Developments, will open its doors at Exchange Flags on May 9, 2025.

The new venue will range from daytime get-togethers to late-night socials.

Guests can challenge friends to shuffleboard, watch live sports, test their aim at interactive darts, or sample the menus.

The Liverpool opening follows the success of Black Cat Club in Manchester and Leeds, both launched in 2024.

The Exchange Flags site was the former Vincent Café and Cocktail Bar, part-owned by former Liverpool FC footballer Steven Gerrard, which Michelin-starred chef Aiden Byrne tried to acquire.

Mills Hill Developments acquired the lease for the site five years ago..
