Vinci selected as main contractor for first phase of £350m Stockport scheme

Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) and ECF – a joint venture between Homes England, Legal & General and Muse – have selected Vinci as the preferred contractor to bring forward Phase 1 of Stockport 8, a new £350 million mixed residential neighbourhood to the west of Stockport town centre.
The selection follows a collaborative dialogue tender process, which ultimately saw Vinci successful. Vinci will now work alongside the project team in design development and subject to planning approval, will start on site in Q1 2026, with the demolition of the existing bus depot.
Located on land either side of King Street West and next to the iconic railway viaduct, Stockport 8 will be one of the largest developments within the 130-acre Town Centre West masterplan, reconnecting the area to the town centre and creating a walkable, integrated community under the railway arches.
Stockport 8 is a key element of the wider £1 billion investment currently being delivered across the town centre.
